New era at Arun District Council

Arun District Council saw a change in administration at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday 22 May 2019.

The meeting started with Former Chairman Alan Gammon (Con) handing over the civic reins to Cllr Mrs Jeannette Warr (Lib Dem) who will be Chairman for the Civic year 2019-2020.

"Zero community consultation" on Waitrose redevelopment

Arun Lib Dem Councillors have criticised a lack of consultation with the community after plans were submitted to transform the former Waitrose in Littlehampton town centre into flats.

Plans have been submitted to Arun District Council to demolish the existing buildings and replace them with more than 80 houses, and a small amount of retail space.

Arun lib dems succeeded in "calling in" Arun District Council's plan to remove the the Visitor Information Centre and Littlehampton Experience from the Look and Sea Centre in Littlehampton.

New Chair for Arun Lib Dems

At November's AGM of the local party, Arun Lib Dems voted in a new Chair.

Cllr Jamie Bennett will take over from long-standing Arun Lib Dems Chair Cllr Dr James Walsh.

Jamie (pictured on the left!) is also the Chair of Rustington Parish Council.

Save the Sunken Gardens

Liberal Democrats in Bognor Regis have launched a petition and staged a public meeting to save an open space in the town. The councillors leading the meeting want to stop plans by Conservative-led Arun District Council for a "linear park" on the site of the Sunken Gardens between Queensway and Waterloo Square.
