You won't be surprised to hear that Liberal Democrat councillors on Bognor Regis Town Council voted for a people's vote, on Bognor Regis regeneration.
The votes were to ensure support for the Town Council issuing a questionnaire seeking the comments of people in its six electoral wards about regeneration in the town.
Surveys will be delivered to 11,000 households in January 2019.
The results of the surveys will be considered by Bognor Regis Town Councillors before being presented to Arun District Council.
Lib Dem Councillor Matt Stanley (Marine Ward) said "we should be seeking short, focused views on people's opinion of the Linear Park and whether the Sunken Gardens should be retained".
The survey will contain six questions asking residents to rate their views about regeneration in the town and the removal of the Sunken Gardens.
